No Girl left behind
Did you know that one out of ten girls in Sub-Saharan Africa miss school during their menstrual period, according to the United Nations, Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization? In Namibia, the lack of sanitary pads and inadequate sanitation facilities is said to be the contributing factor to absenteeism, as the Deputy Minister of Education, Arts, and Culture, Ester Anna Nghipondoka. At The African Connection Namibia, we are committed to ending period poverty by helping empower the girl child to take charge of her menstrual health.
In many developing countries, girls miss school during their periods because they can't access sanitary pads.
Problem: Sanitary pads are a mainstay among girls in developed countries but not in women residing in developing countries.
Agitate: In the United States, it's estimated that 88% of girls ages 14-17 use sanitary pads monthly. But in developing countries like Cambodia, only 4% of girls can access them.
Solve: By donating to the cause, you'll be providing an essential item to less fortunate women and helping to alleviate the workload of caregivers and teachers. You'll also be educating them about menstrual hygiene and raising awareness about topics that should not be taboo. Join us now!
